New York

Reasons to visit New York

  1. Do you really need a reason, though? It is one of the most romanticized cities in the world that can provide a great source of inspiration to anyone who visits. The energy of the city is contagious, and you won't want to miss a second of your experience. Be ready to sleep less, walk more, and get excited about everything.

  2. Beautiful architecture. Doesn't matter if it is your first time in NYC or you have been here before, walking on the street surrounded by skyscrapers will make you feel something. Here's a great article on all the different architectural styles in New York: https://ny.curbed.com/2019/1/29/18200784/nyc-architecture-guide-rockefeller-chrysler-flatiron

  3. Food. New York is a city with the widest diversity of ethnic cuisines. Because it is the city of many immigrants from countries all over the world, you can try authentic food without leaving the US. So many family restaurants, modern popular places, street food to choose from.

  4. Entertainment. You'll never get bored in New York City. No matter what is your preferred way to spend your free time is, NY has a lot of options to offer. Museums, parks, Broadway, Live music, culture events, city tours, boat rides, kayaking, rooftop bars, biking, you name it.

Day one

Try Brekkie Rolls ($16) or Smoked Salmon Lox Toast ($19). Delicious!

  • FLATIRON BUILDING

  • BROOKLYN BRIDGE PARK

Start your visit from the Water Street and Washington Street intersection. Great for people watching.

  • THE OCULUS AT THE WORLD TRADE CENTER

If you don't plan to shop or dine in, you just need 10 minutes to spend there. Quick but memorable stop of the day. Check if there are any events: https://www.officialworldtradecenter.com/en/local/things-to-do/events.html

Omakase means that you trust the chef to select, prepare, and serve dishes for you. As soon as you arrive, you will be asked if you have any allergies so that the menu can be modified for you if necessary. You will sit at the counter and not only watch the chef prepare your appetizers and sushi, but also get a personal explanation about the dishes. At only $65 per person, this is one of the best deals that you can find in New York. Reserve your time in advance. Available through Yelp.

  • TOP OF THE ROCK OBSERVATION DECK

Buy tickets in advance https://www.rockefellercenter.com/attractions/top-of-the-rock-observation-deck/

You get charged an extra $10 per ticket to go during sunset, but it's worth it!

DAY TWO

  • HUDSON YARDS

Visit Edge for impeccable morning views! Buy tickets in advance https://www.edgenyc.com/en

  • THE HIGH LINE

Use High Line 30th St Elevator Access (the location only works in Google Maps). Check if you need to make a free reservation (might be required on the weekend).

  • THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART

Spend 1-2 hours at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. My favorites are The American Wing and The Costume Institute.

  • CENTRAL PARK

Central Park is the most visited urban park in the United States. Take a walk, rent a bike, people watch, or have a little picnic.

Try Mushroom Lasagna ($25) or Storico Burger ($22). And don't forget Lemon Tart ($12) for dessert!
