Best place to visit when you are spending a weekend in Las Vegas

If you've been to Las Vegas or even considered going you probably think about the weekend there filled with entertainment, food, fun, and gambling. It is a 4-hour drive from LA and I always try to find something on the way or nearby to explore to change things up. When you are planning your trip leave a couple of hours to explore Calico Ghost Town Regional Park and stop by at Seven Magic Mountains for some pictures.

But if you have some extra time the next day you should go to the Valley of Fire State park. It honestly worth the trip on its own and you don't even need to look at it as an addition to your Vegas trip, it is just easy to stay there for the night.

Valley of Fire State Park is located just 50 miles from Las Vegas and is filled with beautiful red rock formations in all sizes and shades of red.

When I went there my initial goal was to shoot some sunset pictures. We spent there just three hours and it wasn't enough. I would say you need at least five hours to explore the park and if you plan to take pictures you should plan for the full day.

The entrance fee is just $10 per vehicle for a day use entrance and you can camp there for $20/night. You can find more information on the official Nevada state Parks website.
